In a major new initiative for the Church of Australia and New
Zealand, The Liturgical Commission has published a huge collection
liturgical texts on CD. The resource is called LabOra Worship
and it enables the user to prepare the liturgy and produce
participation booklets at the click of a mouse.
The disk puts a whole library of liturgical
books onto your own computer – the entire Lectionary and Sacramentary,
and the rites of Baptism, Confirmation, Marriage, Penance,
Communion of the Sick, Anointing the Sick, and Funerals,
as well as resources
for preaching, music preparation, children's liturgy, Sunday
Celebrations of the Word, Liturgy of the
Hours, the RCIA, Blessings for every occasion, and weekly
general intercessions and clip art. It also contains
the entire Bible with helpful search tools.
An annual disk combines all
these resources with the liturgical calendar. This
will make it easy to prepare your parish, school or
sacramental liturgy, making choices on screen and then
producing attractive people's booklets/sheets,
other printouts of the liturgy, and PowerPoint presentations,
for any day of the year. Each year, the annual disk
will provide the liturgical calendar (which allows
the liturgy preparation software to operate for the
current year), and will add new features and resources,
along with any updates on existing resources. This
regular revision of the liturgical library will be
invaluable as we face new editions of our liturgical
books.
“LabOra”comes from
the Latin words labor (work) and ora (pray!). Those who
prepare liturgical prayer for
the people of God will find their work quicker, easier,
and more enjoyable.
